Not sure what to do with this. With cites, it might be easier to classify? --Connel MacKenzie T C 18:00, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It’s from "sexy shmexy", "food, shmood", "bath, shmath". There’s a Yiddish connection somehow or other. Google gives 10,000 hits for shmexy, so it seems to be popular. —Stephen 18:19, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually smexy is a far more common variant, IME, with 52,800 ghits. I expect it to be the same word, but who knows?... —Muke Tever
I was only wondering about these Jewish-type words yesterday. Is sh- a prefix? Or what? SemperBlotto 23:07, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
shm-/schm-, I'd say. —Muke Tever
Yup, I think this really belongs at "schm-", as Muke says, as in the examples given by Stephen. This can be added to any noun. "Shmexy" has no special status. Delete unless another meaning can be found. — Paul G 14:11, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Keep as attested. If desired move to schmexy and label as alternative spelling. Davilla 14:15, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I checked several of the links in the "References" section, and most of the links there (all of the ones I tried) were broken links. --Mike Schwartz 21:35, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
