- 1485 – Thomas Malory. Le Morte Darthur, Book X, Chapter xlvii, leaf 245r
- There for syre we wylle requyre yow to take the baptym vpon yow and I promyse yow alle knyghtes wyll sette the more by yow and say more worship by yow
- "Therefore, sir, we will require you to take the baptism upon you, and I promise you all knights will set the more by you, and say more worship by you."

- Le Morte Darthur is not modern English, so whatever the meaning is, it's Middle English setten, with bī as what looks like an ordinary preposition. The parallelism of the phrases "sette the more by yow" and "say more worship by yow" implies that that "sette the more" and "say more worship" are structurally parallel, and "by yow" is separate. Of course, I'm not an expert in Middle English, so take it for what it's worth. Chuck Entz (talk) 21:10, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, Chuck Entz
- It seems that the meaning of sette the more by yow in that particular context would be "love you more", according to MED/setten. Many thanks ! Gilravager (talk) 10:01, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
