I'm trying to find out about the etamology of the word scramble, with particular interest to the term used a lot in the UK Royal and Merchant Navy's of Scramble Nets which were large strudy nets thrown over the side of ship to allow men in the water to climb aboard the ship. I suspect the same devices were and perhaps still are used by many navy's, but I don't know if they were called Scramble Nets or not.
Golf verb sense needed
[edit]There are two golf noun senses, but a verb also exists, which we are missing. Green's Newspeak (1984) suggests that scrambling is simply erratic play with occasional moments of skill. Equinox ◑ 22:42, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
