"giving it rizz" in Red Dwarf

I noticed that you recently protected the entry on "rizz," however, I have found something interesting concerning prior usage.

Recently, while watching the BBC/Dave comedy sci-fi series Red Dwarf, I noticed they used the word as slang to mean seduction or sex. I've noticed it twice, in slightly different contexts, but I can't remember exactly where the first one was, either Series 6 from 1993 or Series 7 from 1997, however there is definite usage in Series 8, Epsiode 4: Cassandra from 1999 starting, with context, at about 21:00 in this link here: [1]

The conversation goes as such:

Rimmer: How do I die? / Cassandra: Lister catches you making love to Kochanski and shoots you through the head with a harpoon gun. / Rimmer: Can you just double check that? / Cassandra: I've seen it, it's what happens, in the old laundry room. / Rimmer: So let me just repeat what I think you're saying. Arnold, that's me, and Kochanski, that's the woman, the really attractive one you saw earlier, me and her were in bed giving it rizz, when Lister, that's the short, dumpy one with the stupid haircut, walks in and shoots me through the head, while I'm making love with Kochanski? / Cassandra: That is what is going to happen. / Rimmer: FANTASTIC!

However, I (Equinox) am not sure that "giving it rizz" can mean "having sex", if rizz means "one's ability to seduce a potential (usually female) love interest". Perhaps something close though. Equinox ◑ 19:40, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

It's worth noting that "rizz" has drug-related senses listed on Green's. [2] [3] I found a Reddit thread discussing the phrase "giving it riz" [4] and it seems like it could have just been made up. Like User:Equinox said, the modern usage of rizz refers to seduction rather than sex. Ioaxxere (talk) 21:11, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
