Not German usage

"Er ist das Pferd geritten." In my very long life in all areas of Germany, I n e v e r heard this. Who writes such nonsense? Obviously not a native speaker or one from a forgotten corner. Standard usage is "Er HAT das Pferd geritten". Well, you're demonstrably the one who's writing nonsense, so I've put it back up. Just google "bin das Pferd geritten", "das Pferd geritten bin" (war, bist, ist) and you'll find numerous uses. Most of these are of course from forums and the like, but you will even find several attestations from edited sources. Unlikely that all of these speakers are from "forgotten corners". And regarding your "similarly", which I only see now: what in the world is your problem with the definition "travel on a mount"? When you call this "nonsense", "misunderstood" or "taken out of context", I cannot but believe that YOU misunderstood the English phrase. "Travel on a mount" means "sich auf einem Reittier fortbewegen", which is clearly and obviously a correct definition of "reiten". 00:47, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
