Plural form
[edit]What is the plural form of "regex"? Each of the following looks both right and wrong for its own reason: "regexs", "regexes", "regex's", "regex", "regex expressions", "regeces", "(regex){2,}". Rodasmith 22:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say regexes or regexs, but it'll be hard to source. --MathiasRav 14:05, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Regular expressions.207.216.12.82 19:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not regexs because that's irregular for no reason (we don't write boxs or hyraxs). Not regex's because that would be a possessive. Not regeces because it isn't from Latin (which would anyway probably be regices; compare index/indices). Not regex expressions because that's the plural of a different noun phrase. Not (regex){2,} because that's... just silly. No reason why it would be regex either. So it's regexes or, humorously, regexen. Equinox ◑ 13:08, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
