Of share prices: to fall after they have risen
[edit]This definition is in Jonathon Green's Newspeak (1984), with the opposite (rising prices) being rally, but it's hard to cite convincingly because the general sense (to respond in some way, whether up or down) is also used. I did find this:

- If one does not use a stop order, the chances are that he will not put in his selling order at all at such a time. If prices react he will continue to hope for a rally, instead of selling and grasping what profits he has left.
