It is idiomatic in the sense that you don't necessarily need to pull something in order to activate a fire alarm. Edit: Keep. DAVilla 21:06, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Good points. But I don't recall ever seeing a fire alarm "pull" that didn't say "pull down" or "break glass, pull lever" or similar. AFAIK, they do require a "pull" of one sort or another. Don't they? If they do, that would reinforce the Pauley #1 argument. If they don't, that would reinforce DAVilla's second point.
