Prototrophs still need a carbon source in addition to inorganic material.

They also need nitrogen, water, and other items. Note that not all bacterial phototrophs make use of the Calvin cycle or the two photosystems found in plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. --EncycloPetey 02:28, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
