For "молвить" suggests the second half of promulgeo is related to Slavic words for "language" and the German and Dutch "melden" J'odore (talk)

"Incorrect" usage

[edit]
This verb is often incorrectly used in the sense of "propagate", "promote", or "disseminate". The verb "promulgate" does not have those senses.

Surely if this is common usage it would not in fact be incorrect, as words are defined by the meaning given to them, and so if this meaning of the word is in common usage it is a correct meaning of the word and should be added to the list of meanings?
