pry
[edit]I've both seen and heard an even further shortened form of this word, pry, pronounced as one would expect from the spelling. One person I know used both this form and the full form just a few sentences apart. I suppose I would need more than just scattered posts from across Reddit to get this to count as a citable word, though, right? thanks, —Soap— 19:08, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Soap: First of all, congratulations to spotting a new potential dictionary entry. The criteria for inclusion tell you what requirements a new entry would have to meet. I’m afraid pry as a clipping of prolly isn’t quite ready yet. ‑‑Kai Burghardt (talk) 06:59, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- i've seen a few more of these lately. Im not on YouTube anymore so can't give the links to audio clips, but it seems to be used without explanation on X: https://x.com/search?q=%22is%20pry%20a%22 ... and that's just one phrase. i think if anything we're lagging behind on this. —Soap— 21:24, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
