The dictionary.com link given as a source is no longer valid, so I can't see what information it might have shown. merriam-webster.com only shows that this spelling is an obsolete form of proffer. I'm curious where the pronunciation of /pɹəʊˈfɜː/ comes from, because I can't find that anywhere else. It seems like this entry should just show it's an obsolete spelling of proffer and link to that page. 68.193.141.193 19:29, 6 August 2023 (UTC)corphoReply
