for the second definition of the noun (A high civic or administrative offical, especially ...) official is spelled wrong ("offical" instead of "official").

Fixed, however from the etymology, is it really not straight from Latin? Certainly the modern spelling is, perhaps in Middle English it was pretore or something that would link it back to Anglo-Norman. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:33, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
