Unclear definition

[edit]

Def unclear: "nickel with a hole in it where a plug has been removed" -- What does this mean? A plug of what? I'm not aware of nickels having any plugs to remove in the first place. -- Eiríkr ÚtlendiTala við mig 05:34, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Syntactically, a more correct term would be an "unplugged nickel" in reference to the fact that the "plug" (silver center disc) was removed, but this term is very rare." I think that's false. A shelled walnut is a walnut with the shell removed; and unshelled walnut is a walnut still in its shell. So a plugged nickel is a nickel with the plug removed.Marty39 (talk) 16:48, 26 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

But shell means "remove the shell from", while plug does not mean "remove the plug from". Logical or not, that's how it is. Equinox 16:56, 26 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
