But why would a clicking sound be deaf? I guessed it might be dialect for a post (deaf as a post). Equinox ◑ 14:21, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

This Hardy lexicon defines it as a dialectal form of "block": [1]. For comparison, EDD gives two definitions: 1) a block of wood, 2) an alternative form of plack. The word plack in turn has several definitions. 98.170.164.88 04:13, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
