Seems an odd word shape for a direct borrowing. Or maybe it really was direct, but we just sort of molded it into a Russian-like form because "all those cold climate languages sound the same". Soap 06:19, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

it may be that the allophone of R before a voiceless stop is somewhat like /k/, and that final stops are so common that we didnt even hear them, but i still think there may be Russian influence here. Soap 19:54, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
