S / Z in Czech translation

Good afternoon. In Czech, the spelling can be both "filosofie", both "filozofie", right spelling of this word (and other S/Zs in Latin and Greek loanwords) is a source of a big controversy among Czech society. "S" usually indicates more conservative, scholarly view to language, but "Z" is highly preferred in official names of institutions (Faculty of Arts, in Czech "filozofická fakulta", is always written with Z in official documents). However, both variants are pronounced with "z": ['filozofije].

being philosophy comes from the French name for such text. Does that merit a separate etymology section? or does it just get tacked on to the much earlier derivation from French for the main sense of philosophy? — LlywelynII 16:12, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
