Does really anyone mean personne?
[edit]does really anyone mean personne ? if so please give a sample !
- From Larousse, "Je suis parti sans que personne s'en aperçoive", which I think means "I left without anyone noticing". From Harrap, "Il le sait mieux que personne", "he knows it better than anyone". So, "personne" sometimes means "anyone". It has an indefinite rather than a negative meaning in such sentences. But if you are translating from English into French, "anyone" is more often rendered as "quelqu'un" or "n'importe qui". - User:Amatlexico
Would this be an outated British spelling of person
[edit]I haven't seen "personne" in British spelling of PErson, except in archaic scriptures. 112.201.171.119 02:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Please fix etymology
[edit]Why does the French etymology fail to explain why the same word means both "person" and "nobody"? Please add this basic information, which anyone would expect to find in an entry for this word. 173.88.246.138 03:49, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
