When was this deleted?? I have it on my watchlist, but never saw any indication there that it was deleted. Can someone link me to any relevant discussion?

Since noone has replied to the above, I've recreated the entry, including generous citations. If you think the entry doesn't belong, please send it through the RFV or RFD process, rather than deleting it offhand. Thanks for your vigilance :-) Language Lover 18:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

permadeath

[edit]

Previously deleted with prejudice, re-entered now with usenet "cites." Not used outside of a handful of computer games. --Connel MacKenzie 14:15, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm, thanks for putting this on RFD instead of deleting it silently with no explanation like last time :D Okay, since permadeath has 18k google hits and instadeath has 6k, our definitions of "handful" are at odds. But that's all good :)
I checked CFI and it doesn't say anything about usenet being worth less than other media. Quite the opposite, it says usenet is favored (with "media such as books and magazines will also do" added aferward). Anyway, one of the cites at permadeath is a book. It seems to me that the words in question are a great addition to our excellent Wiktionary :-D with a (gamer slang) tag, their context and usage are rendered quite clear.  :) Language Lover 21:17, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Heh. Well, your compelling defense of the entries on my talk page is probably better repeated here. I maintain that it is used only by a small segment of the population - a handful  :-)  - that happens to be quite naturally inclined to use usenet for their chit-chat. --Connel MacKenzie 21:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Keep per Language Lover's compelling defense of the entries on Connel's talk page. Cheers! bd2412 T 16:51, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
