What about the sexual usage (neologism) listed on Wikipedia? I'm not sure what the convention is for neologisms. --zandperl 15:28, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)

usage

[edit]

Peg in the sense of to throw isn't exclusive to Hiberno English. Its fairly common here in Australia, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's used elsewhere. --Vladisdead 12:43, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

From middle-american English, just my two-cents, that "peg" in the sense of "throw" does not mean "To throw a ball at (someone)", but rather it means "to hit (someone) with a ball (by throwing it)." --Sdarwin2 25 Jul 2024 (UTC)

etymology, rarity of *b

[edit]

> This is one of the very few words in English inherited directly from Proto-Indo-European to begin with a p due to the extreme rarity of *b in Proto-Indo-European, which became *p in Proto-Germanic as described by Grimm's law.

I can't make sense of that addage, without background knowledge. Is it me or is it really written badly? 91.66.13.99 19:07, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Erutuon: do you think you could improve that? --Barytonesis (talk) 19:22, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Barytonesis: Thanks for the ping. There, that's a bit better. — Eru·tuon 19:33, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
