Duden treats the whole word as "dated", but that might be because they don't distinguish the senses. DWDS does not tag it anything. On leo.dict some people think it dated even in the "falling down" sense, but my question to them would be: What else would you say? One user suggests bauz as a more "modern" form, but that could only be dialectal and is surely much less common. PS: There is actually a synonym "paff" (which I've added now), but I'm still not sure that's more common. And it also has a bit of a different nuance, referring more to a smack or crash than a falling over. 84.63.31.91 00:28, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
