Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13. This would indeed be the fear of Friday the 13th, Friday being, roughly transliterated, "Paraskeve" in Greek.

As to whether it is genuine, it is listed as spelled here on Wikipedia and in online lists of phobias, such as [1], but how many of these are copied from one another without checking their validity is anybody's guess. — Paul G 12:42, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

By necessity, medical terms are created as they are needed from latin and greek. Therefore if there is really a fear of Fridays the Thirteenth and if the Greek roots are correct, then this would be considered a real word to a psychiatrist.

Exactly, that is the point. The Greek roots here are not correct. It strikes the eye just when you look at the Etymology section. Yet nobody seems bothered. --Pyprilescu (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Etymology
