pif-paf

[edit]

I think rather than a borrowing from German, this is likely a borrowing from Zamenhof's native Polish language, where pif-paf is the sound of a gun firing, and thus much semantically closer than the German word. Why not pifpafi then? Presumably the reduplication would be unnecessary in an engineered language such as Esperanto. This is just my opinion. Best regards, Soap 12:18, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
