Add topicWhile rarely used in everyday speech, this word has become very highly used in certain gaming communities, where an "overland map" refers to a two-dimensional "flat" map which the player views from a bird's eye view, usually more "outside" than more specific town or dungeon maps, and sometimes encompassing the entire world. A synonym is "overworld map".
