Nahuatl
[edit]A word exists in Nahuatl spelled "nobia", meaning "fianceé", indicating instead of the word being drawn randomly from "novus", meaning new (and which makes absolutely no sense), it makes much more sense for novia being a borrowing from the Nahuatl language. 169.244.116.65 19:03, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- You're getting a bit ahead of yourself, we don't even have nobia yet, discussing the etymology seems premature. Mglovesfun (talk) 19:06, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- It is much more likely that Nahuatl borrowed it from Spanish (the spelling, for one thing; the fact that a VL form is reconstructible, for another), I'm sure any good etymological dictionary could confirm that. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 00:33, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
