"Notice" as an IRC slang word

[edit]

The verb "notice" is used on Internet Relay Chat (which, all networks combined, has over 500,000 users, so it has some notability behind it and a Wikipedia article to boot) to refer to the act of sending someone a notice (a special type of message). For example, "NickServ just noticed me about authenticating" means that NickServ just sent me a notice message concerning authentication. Could this be a potential use to put down as "Internet slang" or some similar term on the article page? Javawizard 03:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

1. Write review of a book, play, or movie ; 2. Announce something to somebody (formal) ; 3. recognize somebody

[edit]

1. The critics noticed my latest play rather unfavorably.

2. I've been noticed by the IRS that part of my taxes are overdue.

3. My exboyfriend noticed me merely with a nod.
