"Hard tussock on tundra, such as moss." I can find citations that use "niggerhead swamp" or use "niggerhead" near "moss", but it's not clear that "tussock on tundra" is the meaning they're using. Citations added & wording tweaked. I see no reason to emphasise moss, and even 'hard' is seemingly not intrinsic to the definition. They seem to be unappreciated by walkers, hence perhaps the pejorative term. — Pingkudimmi 07:32, 28 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
