Those Oxford dummies add the phrase: "inhabiting a particular state or territory", so according to Oxford, the Roma, Aryans, Jews, etc. are not Nations.

Fortunately, in Wiktionary we can make up our definitions without bothering about references or documentation.24.64.166.191 06:10, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Different etymology

[edit]

Michael Tsarion surely belongs to the group of revisionist historians much loathed by linguists, but still I'd like to mention that he asserts the origin of this word as being nashon, a Hebrew word and allegedly the name of the tribe of King David. The meaning of the word according to Tsarion, is serpent. __meco 14:46, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
