I don't think "athlete" should be a synonym. Musclebrain has definite negative connotations, but athlete is purely positive. I know some athletes who are extremely intelligent, and I'd consider myself in this category too.

We don't add or remove synonyms based on what should be, or based on whether or not they fail to apply in all cases. The issue is solely whether people use the word that way. So, if someone can find instances of athlete being used in such a diparaging way, it is a synonym. If a look for such uses turns up nothing, then it is not a synonym. Whether the implications of the use are true or not is not relevant for determining synonyms. --EncycloPetey 12:39, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
