Possible missing noun sense

John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) defines it as "a thrashing, synonymous with slogging, both terms of the 'ring,' and frequently used by fighting men". I couldn't find it, but I imagine it might be found in those old 1800s "sporting papers" that talk about "pugilism" and "claret" for blood etc. Equinox ◑ 20:14, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
