Also apparently a synonym for mallemaroking (carousing on whaling ships), e.g. (1874, Sir Albert Hastings Markham, ‎Sherard Osborn, A Whaling Cruise to Baffin's Bay and the Gulf of Boothia) "In whaling parlance, a “mollie" means having a night of it; that is, a number of captains congregate together on board one ship, and then an animated discussion ensues..."; this is also listed in Chambers 1908.
