Why mokslas as the source? Surely mokyti "teach" is the source of both? There is after all a regular pattern in Lithuanian of deriving "place of" words from verbs using -ykla, e.g. valgyti "eat" > valgykla "cafeteria, restaurant", kirpti "cut, shear" > kirpykla "barber shop".
