Mlungu originally referred to the white foam/scum left on the beach by ocean waves. It was a Zulu word but seems to have been adopted by several of the other southern African languages. These days usually used as a derogatory term. RetiredGit (talk) 09:12, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Interesting. We have no such sense (yet) here or at mzungu. Sourceable? Equinox ◑ 09:30, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- The Zulu word is at umlungu. There was a discussion of the etymology a little while back, but I don't think this idea has anything going for it. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:37, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
