Defining the term

[edit]

This term, misjuncture, has been in use for at least 30 years, mainly, from the sources seen, in anthropology (esp. in the Pacific) and arts. However, I don't see any formal definitions. So the definition offered when creating this page is tentative.

It seems useful to contrast misjuncture with disjuncture - the difference being between a disharmonious or dysfunctional quality of meeting (misjuncture), and the incompleteness of meeting or failure to meet (disjucture). Misjuncture calls to mind juxtaposition. --A12n (talk) 17:07, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
