Etymology: Not cognate to minotaur

It’s tempting to thing (deprecated template usage) minatory cognate to (deprecated template usage) minotaur; however, this is not so. “Minatory” is from Latin (deprecated template usage) minari, while “minotaur” is from Ancient Greek Μίνως (Mínōs, “king of Crete”), and I do not believe that these are cognate. The ‘a’ vs. ‘o’ is a hint that they are different, though in spoken English the distinction is not clear.
