Connotations
[edit]The connotations of the word aren't explained very well; see Wikipedia article. AnonMoos 21:43, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, sucks that. Is "colloquial" really the best tag we have for "lower-class"? — LlywelynII 10:39, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- There. That should fix that: Most modern uses are derived from m'lord and not French tourists but the main definition should be at m'lord. — LlywelynII 11:03, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Link & Plural
[edit]For now I have added a Wikipedia link to the entry. (I've also added the missing plural (deprecated template usage) milords, which suggests it isn't always a term of address.) Equinox ◑ 21:47, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- That was surprising, but the OED backs that usage and etymology up. — LlywelynII 10:39, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Wrong translation of French?
[edit]"Qui n'ont pas eu de chance": doesn't this in fact mean "who were not lucky"? Equinox ◑ 23:47, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
