quote
[edit]Google gives a couple of references for a poem called Wat een etersbaas, one of which references a collection Oude Versjes by S. Abramsz. This includes the lines:
- Zeven krentepannekoeken,
- als mijn duim zo dik
- zeven sneën krentemik,
- en nog tot besluit
- zeven rol beschuit.
If this could be sourced and dated, it might prove a good quote for the noun. Hv 00:04, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Vulgarity of Afrikaans "crotch"
[edit]@Lingo Bingo Dingo: I hadn't heard this before, so I don't know. But that combined with the fact that it's absent from my dictionary makes me suspect that it is... —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 23:48, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Metaknowledge Apparently at least one dictionary has this as informal. Do we have any native speakers of Afrikaans who are active contributors?
←₰-→Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 07:50, 1 November 2019 (UTC)- Excellent question. I'm not sure if @Naudefj is still active. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:43, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
- It's unusual but 100% correct! See WAT: "Deel v.d. onderlyf waar die dye bymekaarkom" :-) Naudefj (talk) 06:42, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Naudefj Would you say that the word is informal, or perhaps vulgar?
←₰-→Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 08:43, 4 November 2019 (UTC)- Informal, sure, but not necessarily vulgar. Naudefj (talk) 15:11, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Naudefj Thank you!
