Term-referent confusion?

Our definition begins: "a metonymic term to describe a type of synecdoche". So is a merismus a metonymic term, or is "merismus" a metonymic term that means "a type of synecdoche"? If the latter, the definition needs changing. ("Horse" is a word, but a horse isn't a word.) Equinox ◑ 17:06, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
