rfv-sense: (slang) a maggot. Maggot may be a generalized insult, like "worm". But it seems a long way from "lout" to "maggot". DCDuring TALK 02:46, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

As I have heard lout used synonymously with louse, maybe it's not so far a stretch to maggot.
