Etymology
[edit]User:King of Hearts A mixed Old English & Italian etymology for a phrase about business dealings seems more than improbable. If it is "sourced" then please include a mention of the source, in the etymology section! Equinox ◑ 16:02, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

- Also, I'm not sure whether it is better to call it Latin or Italian; the source mentions both languages, but I chose Italian since our definition for firma#Latin does mention anything about a signature. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 16:11, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- @King of Hearts The source looks bogus and ignorant. I did check the Old English, and found absolutely nothing to support it. See my post at the Etymology scriptorium. Chuck Entz (talk) 17:23, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
