@Surjection: Oh I didn't notice. But I don't really know how SOP it is if analyzed as a loan word in English. So I'm not sure whether to withdraw the nomination or move it to RFDE. Imetsia (talk) 19:59, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

I think it is plausible that English dolce vita stems, by shortening, from the use (in English) of la dolce vita.^[1] Although we have an English sense for la, it does not fit here; English la dolce vita was obviously (IMO) borrowed as a whole from Italian, and not smuggled in in pieces to be reassembled in the Anglosphere.  --Lambiam 01:04, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

I've never heard of the dolce vita, but I've definitely heard of la dolce vita. I'd be inclined to move the definition of dolce vita to la dolce vita and then delete dolce vita. Languageseeker (talk) 02:15, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

It is not hard to find la-less uses of dolce vita: [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], and even in book titles: [7], [8], [9]. It appears to meet the standards of our CFI.  --Lambiam 13:23, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
