I have talked to Finns, and found out that it is rather misleading to translate “kuinka voit” to “how are you”; “kuinka voit” is more accurately translated to “Are you alright?”, as it apparently expresses some concern, as opposed to “mitä kuuluu” which is the more jovial “how are you?”.
