As an abbreviation of ‘kindergarten’

I’m not sure why this is listed as a Philippines-specific usage. I think of that usage as normal as it is the most common way of referring to kindergarten in Australian English. “When I was in kinder…”, “What kinder did you go to?”, “There’s a kinder across the road from that primary school”, etc. Would love to hear others’ experience, especially AusE speakers.
