According to the government of Turkey's official dictionary Türk Dil Kurumu the word is of Persian/Farsi origin. It would be nice to add this an an etymology and link to the appropriate wiktionary page in Farsi but I'm not sure how to spell it in Arabic script (transliterated it's kâşkî).
