Evidence, New York Italian source

I can't find any evidence or references for the 'java/mocha' portmanteau, and I do have at least one source that I'm corroborating on it being from Italian (New York Italian, and therefore probably either Neapolitan or Sicilian, but that's why corroboration is taking a bit.)
