Rfv-sense: A thundering; thunder. OED isn't convinced either Notusbutthem (talk) 15:25, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

OED has: “A thundering; a roaring or rumbling as of thunder.” While they cite mentions, in what sense are they “not convinced”? It may be both rare and archaic, but I detect no sign of dubitation.  --Lambiam 07:07, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

I adjusted the definition to better fit the quotes; for some of them, the idea of thundering is not central.

I'm really tempted to RFV sense 2, which is at best obsolete, but I think we all should ease off on the RFVs for a little bit... This, that and the other (talk) 11:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

Kiwima's cites would mostly fit fine under a "sound made by a musical instrument" sense, if we just broadened it not to say only "singing or playing". As usual the sense distinction is a false one. Equinox ◑ 11:12, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
