Why is "Appalachia" written on this page? I've heard the word "idea" pronounced as "idear" a multitude of times in British English. The only type of English that pronounces "idea" as "idear" is British English. --NoToleranceForIntolerance (talk) 15:24, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

It's about spelling, not pronunciation. Many Brits pronounce bath like barth but that doesn't mean barth thus spelled is a word. Equinox ◑ 15:28, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

So it should not say "1. Eye dialect spelling of idea." because that spelling based on pronunciation is most prevalent in Appalachia? Of all variants of the English language that are part of the English language, some have r-insertion (apparently spoken English in Appalachia does) which leads to the eye dialect spelling "idear", but although said spelling occurred in all of said locations and accents that have r-insertion, it occurred most frequently in Appalachia. --NoToleranceForIntolerance (talk) 00:37, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
