"Any unregistered investment fund..." Not so. Hedge funds are distinct from private equity funds, venture capital funds, and other private investment pools.

"All hedge funds are supposed to be hedged from risk; hence the name." Not true. There is no requirement or even expectation that hedge funds be "hedged."
