- hebephiliac says: "A person who is sexually attracted to pubescents or adolescents." (not gender-specific)
- but hebephile says: "An adult who has hebephilia; one primarily sexually attracted to pubescent girls." (specific to girls)
- and hebephilia lists both senses, "sexual preference for adolescent girls" and "sexual attraction [to] pubescent children"
- in turn, ephebophile says "An adult who is primarily sexually attracted to adolescent boys."
- whereas ephebophilia lists both "sexual preference for adolescent boys" and "sexual attraction towards late pubescent or postpubescent adolescents".
- (ephebophiliac defines itself in terms of the other two words)
I assume any polysemy in the -philias is also found in the -philes (although because the broad sense would seem to encompass the gender-specific sense, finding unambiguous cites might be tedious). I intend to consolidate the issue to one set of entries by defining hebephile in terms of hebephilia and likewise for the ephebo- terms. - -sche (discuss) 01:04, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
