- She doesn't set a standard for English; there isn't one. But you're right that no single pronunciation of that word has a clear hegemony (see also 'liberry'). Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:55, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- This question is clearly about British English as the form "libry" isn't usual in the US. Just as "liberry" isn't usual in Britain. And for British English, yes, the Queen's usage is relevant. If even she said it like that, this clearly proves that it cannot be considered nonstandard. (At most, it could be an outdated "hyper-standard" like her "awfen", "gawn" for often, gone; but of course this isn't the case here.) 90.186.72.91 15:08, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
